Dolphin riding
our wake

The seals don't seem to mind the rough see
I think the boat trip should have been cancelled by the operator due to the bad weather, but it wasn't, so at 7.50 we were at the 'Waterfront' in Luderitz and got on board of the Sedina. It is a sailing boat, but we never saw the sails because there was to little wind, according to the skipper. If you should be in doubt: Diesel smells really bad :-(.

It was very foggy. At times we could hardly see the shore. And it was cold. Extremely cold. I was wearing a T-shirt, two sweaters and a wind breaker ... and I was still freezing.

Anyhow, we saw doplhins playing in the wake of the boat, a seal colony (they got really excitet when we passed them because they probably thought we were a fisher boat about to dump some fish-waste), and our first pinguins in Africa.

We wouldn't have thought we'd spot penguins in Africa!

On the boat were also Cordia and Dirk, a German couple living in Baden, which is only about 30 kilometers from where we live in Switzerland. We had a coffee with them after the boat tour. The rest of the afternoon was spent on organising stuff like accommodation for the next several days, where to do customs in Namibia and South Africa on the way to Cape Town, checking e-mail, withdrawing money, etc. It all takes time, it sure does. Having everything organised for you up-front certainly does have its advantages (but it still is not the way we prefer to travel).

Some ships in the harbour of Luderitz

The dinner together with Cordia and Dirk at "Barels" around the corner of our hotel was delicious. Nice atmosphere, good food and beers.
